- Yes, get the diff off the donar car. It's a smart move. In anything goes wrong with the setup, you can have your old diff put back in 2 hours.- It's been historically seen that even high mileage cars do not need new main bearings during the gear swap. If you can spare the time, hold off on buying new bearings until you can inspect what you've already got. - It's a great mod. :hey guys, :Im thinking of installing 4.10 leader gears in my differential but i was wondering since i dont want to have any downtime in my car. I work at a junkyard btw and we have a 91 twinturbo just like mine but with 183k. Could i take that differential out and put the gears in there or would it be better if i put them in my orignal differential which only has 72k miles. When i get the gears put in ill have all the bearings(Sp?) changed out and seals. So my question is which would be better to do or since im changing everything out it wouldnt matter. :Also another question.. what part numbers will i need for the gear swap. And oh yeah im only paying a 100 bucks for putting the gears in! :Thanks, :Mo
